St. Tropez Bistro is a cute little café tucked up in Encinitas, serving French-Californian casual cuisine. I was recently invited to visit and sample some of their menu, and I drove up on a weekday for lunch.
I was quite enamored by the lovely rustic décor here, and the menu featured items to match the atmosphere. Breakfast, crepes, quiches, salads, paninis… it was so tough to decide what I wanted to eat!
When I saw the quiches in the display, though, I knew that I definitely wanted one. The owner also talked me into trying one of their paninis.
Goat Cheese Quiche [$7.95]
I loved the fluffy filling that included goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh herbs. The crust was also buttery and flaky. I really enjoyed the quiche itself, though I wasn’t quite sure what to do with the single slices of cucumber, tomato, and lettuce.
Toulon Gourmet [$8.95/half]
I chose a half-portion of the Toulon Gourmet panini, which includes: turkey breast, caramelized onions, roasted red bell pepper, lettuce, tomato, mozzarella cheese, and garlic aioli on focaccia bread. I liked the combination of the sandwich fillings, especially the caramelized onions and roasted red pepper. However, if I had to choose, I would definitely pick the quiche as my favorite.
In addition to quiche, there was also a huge variety of desserts and pastries available on display…
I couldn’t resist the temptation and ordered a tiramisu to-go, which I shared with J later that day.
The tiramisu was quite delicious, though in hindsight I wish that I had chosen something a bit more unique. Still, we really enjoyed every bite of this.
Overall, I really enjoyed everything that I tried at St. Tropez Bistro. The owner and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful, and the food was fresh and delicious. I wish that they are located closer to me, but if you’re in the Encinitas area, it’s definitely worth checking out. They also have a yummy-looking dinner menu, which I hope to try sometime in the future.
