Elizabethan Desserts is a bakery located in Encinitas. I’ve seen photos of their adorable cupcakes and have been wanting to check it out for some time now, and recently I finally had a chance to visit!
This is apparently a new location for the shop – the space was bright and sunny, with beautiful pastel colors throughout the store.
Here’s their display case of gorgeous cupcakes and other treats:
The mini-pies look really good, but I decided to hold off on the pies and visit Betty’s Pie Whole next time, a sister (or affiliated?) bakery also located in Encinitas.
With so many selections to choose from, I could barely make up my mind and wandered around for a while… Haha. I was glad that they offered mini-sized cupcakes, which meant I could eat more without feeling so guilty.
I was attracted to this one purely because the bee was adorable. Only later when I went on the website did I read about all the details of this cupcake. It was really yummy! The cake itself was moist, and I thought that the honey buttercream was just right in terms of sweetness and smooth mouthfeel. Also, the bee is adorable! Did I say that already?
I also selected the churro mini cupcake. The cake wasn’t as moist as the previous one, but that could be because I should have eaten it right away. I liked the mini churro on the top!
Finally, I couldn’t resist the calling of a savory treat, the cheddar scone.
I have a weakness for savory pastries, and this cheddar scone was really delicious. I love how flaky and buttery it was! It also has cayenne pepper, so be careful if you’re not a fan of spicy food.
Overall, I was quite happy with everything that I tried from Elizabethan Desserts and look forward to returning for future sweet cravings. The prices are reasonable, the staff are super friendly, and of course, the treats are tasty.
