This is probably not surprising to you that I visited a Taiwanese cafe with Sid during my stay in SD. I love Taiwanese food… in fact, one of the main reasons I visited Taiwan was for the culinary experience :P
Tea Garden is one of Sid’s favorite Taiwanese places. For the record, they have really good yogurt green tea (多多綠茶). Their menu features the standard Taiwanese ‘small dishes’ such as popcorn chicken, pork cutlet over rice, sausage over rice, beef noodle soup, etc. Sid ordered the beef fried rice:
I was told that the chicken leg over rice was pretty good. They offer both crispy and grilled versions, and I chose the grilled:
The flavor is actually pretty authentic according to Sid, and I liked it a lot except for the fact that it was a touch on the salty side. I really liked the marinated pork on the rice, and the vegetables.. very Taiwanese style haha.
The nicest part about getting lunch here is that the meal comes with a tea (regular black or green tea):
Yep, this is definitely going to be my go-to lunch spot in future SD visits! :D
